Emulsifiers

Emulsifiers are essential components in the formulation of water-miscible metalworking for a broad range of chemistries being employed to provide optimum stability for different oils and water compositions. In addition to emulsification, as a function of their chemical composition, they provide reduced foaming tendency and enhanced lubricity making them useful multifunctional additives. Metalworking fluid applications include soluble oils and semi-synthetic fluids.

Emulsifiers provided by Lankem can help to provide optimum metalworking fluid emulsion stability.

These products are based on phosphate esters, fatty alcohol ethoxylates, fatty acid ethoxylates, fatty acid ester and fatty acid amides:

  • Lanphos PE74 is a highly effective emulsifier using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. In addition to excellent emulsification, it also provides extreme pressure lubrication and beneficial corrosion inhibition. These characteristics are provided in combination with a low foaming profile.

  • Lanphos PE35 and Lanphos PE36 are effective emulsifiers using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. In addition to good emulsification, it also provides extreme pressure lubrication and beneficial corrosion inhibition. These characteristics are provided in combination with a moderate foaming profile.

  • Lansurf AE73 is a highly effective nonionic emulsifier using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. It is particularly suited to the emulsification of mineral oils and ester-based lubricants.

  • Lansurf OA7, Lansurf OA10 and Lansurf OA14 are effective nonionic secondary emulsifiers using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. They are particularly suited to the emulsification of mineral oils and ester-based lubricants.

  • Lansurf CO12 and Lansurf CO40 are effective nonionic secondary emulsifiers using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. They are particularly suited to the emulsification of vegetable oils in addition to mineral oils and ester-based lubricants.

  • Lansurf SMO and Lansurf STO are hydrophobic nonionic secondary emulsifiers using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. They can help balance the HLB of emulsification systems to give optimum emulsion stability.

  • Lansurf CDE and Lansurf CDE-G are effective nonionic secondary emulsifiers using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. They are particularly suited to the emulsification of mineral oils and ester-based lubricants. In addition to emulsification, they provide beneficial corrosion inhibition characteristics.
